Life brought them together, before taking them in different directions.
Over the years, they built different lives, different careers and different relationships with movement. Alice was drawn to strength, performance and the understanding of the body. Johanna developed her world around people, experience and connection.
Their paths were different, but the values behind them were becoming surprisingly similar.
Two perspectives. Different strengths.
A shared way of seeing things.
Years passed, lives changed and their paths continued separately.
Then, years later and thousands of kilometres from where they first met, Alice and Johanna found themselves in Lombok again.
This time, the timing was different.
Through their conversations, they realised that despite their different journeys, they shared the same vision of movement: one where strength and control could coexist, where intensity could meet intention, and where a studio could offer more than just a workout.
That shared vision
became the starting pointfor Vaya
The name VAYA came naturally because it reflected
something we both believed in:
Movement is not only what
happens inside a studio.
It is also the way we evolve, the choices we make and the moments that push us towards something new. For us, VAYA represents movement in every sense - physical, personal and sometimes geographical.
A place to move forward, in your own way.
What started as conversations about movement
gradually became something much bigger.
We imagined a studio that could bring together the different ways we both like to move - precision and intensity, control and strength - without having to choose between them.
But we also wanted VAYA to feel like more than a place to train.
A place where people could arrive early, stay after class, meet others and feel part of something.

Movement, Performance & Recovery.
With a background in nursing, CrossFit and conditioning, Alice has always been fascinated by the way the body moves, adapts and performs.
At VAYA, she brings that understanding into the movement experience, combining strength, precision and a considered approach to performance and recovery
People, Experience & Connection.
Johanna's background has always centred around people, relationships and experience.
At VAYA, she brings that instinct into the way the brand is experienced - from the smallest details of the customer journey to community, partnerships and the feeling people have when they walk through the door.
Different strengths.
one shared vision.

VAYA began with movement - across places, through different lives and eventually towards the same idea.
Now, the next part of the story begins in Lombok.
